This poem is a response to a darker poem I wrote 2+ years ago called Enemy of the Common Good.
“Love your enemies,” you said
What if I’m the enemy?
So there’s hope for the long dead
One to have serenity?
I gravitate towards extremes
“Enemy of the Common Good”
“Noble Leader of Thy Teams”
But I’m common, no saint-hood
And, oh thank God, common is
Not the enemy of good
People of the predictable
Troop so tragic, it's boring
Tov, Ra, Ying, Yang, biblical
Confessing sins and snoring
If we’re real, who’re you or I
To decide places or shoulds
Recuse yourself, by and by
The villain is the word should
